Maria thinks good writers are readers first. She has the book reviews to prove it.
Maria moved around a lot growing up, enough to get very good at walking into a new room and finding her footing quickly, which is a useful skill for an introvert. It’s also part of what drew her to writing. Words have always been the place where she feels most at home, and a lifelong reading habit gave her an instinct for what makes language work.
After graduating with an English degree, she worked her way through social media, content writing, email marketing, paid ads, and strategy — picking up enough hats along the way to understand how good copy fits into a bigger picture. Writing has always been the through line. Everything else just gave her context to do it better. At FieldWrk, her days are spent on website copy, blogs, social posts, research, and SEO, a new writing adventure every day, as she puts it. For someone who’s always loved stories, it turns out infrastructure and construction companies have plenty worth telling.
She shows up for clients and teammates the same way she shows up for everything: kindness first. Prepared, on top of things, and warm, she’s the kind of person who strives to make the work feel a little easier just by being positive.
Away from her laptop, Maria lives in upstate South Carolina with her husband, their daughter, and a sleepy cat named Petunia. She has a dedicated social media account for book reviews and a rotating collection of cozy hobbies: crocheting, coloring, puzzles. She can talk about female fantasy authors for an unreasonable amount of time. Consider yourself warned.
